Cross River Rail

Featured Projects

Brisbane

Background

The Cross River Rail project comprises a new 10.2km rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills and includes 5.9km of twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and Central Business District (CBD).

It aims to improve mobility within Brisbane’s main areas by integrating rail, roads and busways connecting with the Gold Coast.

The project also includes redeveloping and refurbishing stations, together with new tunnels, to improve the capacity of the current rail network.

Our Involvement

CMW Geosciences is part of the Construction Phase Supervision (CPS) team with Unity Alliance (RIS), providing geotechnical support including site investigation, temporary works design (piling and working platforms), geotechnical certification, optimisation of foundation design, ground treatment inspections, along with other geotech-related tasks.

What we achieved

Our team provided construction supervision (piling supervision for OHLE, bridges and retaining walls) from Clapham Yard through to Mayne Yard, including all train stations.

The CMW Geosciences team worked in conjunction with Unity Alliance’s RIS geotechnical team to optimise design and reduce pile length - in doing so saving significant cost and reducing program timing.
