Deep in the jungles of Hamilton NZ during Level 4 COVID-19 lockdown.
Everyone is at home, fully operational, working on existing projects, then we receive a call from a client with an urgent, essential job. Constant and rapid gully erosion, steep banks, numerous slips with structures above.
A quick response is required, and delivered. Our pre-prepared COVID-19 safety documents and procedures are already in place so the team can get out there as soon as approval is given and we notify the locals of our impending arrival. Tricky access and dense vegetation means Hand Augers and Scalas combined with a walkover with our experienced Principal Ken Read will be our data sources. Luke Stanley and David MacPherson might have ended up with wet feet and a few mosquito bites but secretly enjoyed getting back out in the field. Data processing, geomorph map, ground models, sections, slope stability analysis and a final report for the client are all underway and set to be delivered from home.
